Share with friends and family through your social media! Donations made in support of an animal are valued at one vote for every $1.00 donated. Those who donate $20.00 or more will receive a tax-receipt

The Top 12 pets with the highest votes ($1=1 vote)  will win a spot in our 2021 calendar. The pet with the most votes will also get the front cover image of the calendar!

The 12 winners with the highest number of votes will be asked to bring their pet to the Guelph Humane Society, 500 Wellington St. W., Guelph, ON, in order to have their pictures taken on Saturday, June 13th by Nicole Buzzing Photography (due to COVID-19, this date may be subject to change). Please ensure you are available for this date prior to entering, or email events@guelphhumane.ca if you have concerns.

2021 GHS Calendar Contest (COMPLETED!)

THE GHS CALENDAR  CONTEST IS COMPLETED!

Stay tuned for our 2021 calendars coming on sale this fall!

The calendar contest is an exciting way to celebrate your amazing pet while fundraising for the most vulnerable animals in our community.

 

Here’s how to get started:

1) Take a clear photo of your pet. Check out our photo taking tips HERE.

2) Write a fun, short bio sharing what your pet means to you and your family.

3) Go to 2021 GHS Calendar Contest website and register your pet. There is registration fee of $20 to kick start your voting ($1 = 1 vote). All funds raised in the calendar contest will go towards the highest priority needs at GHS. Before entering you pet make sure you read the contest rules HERE.

4) Share your contest page with friends and family through your social media channels! Donations made in support of an animal are valued at one vote for every $1.00 donated. Those who donate $20.00 or more will receive a tax-receipt.

5) The Top 12 pets with the highest number of votes will win a spot in our 2021 calendar. The pet with the most votes will win the front cover image of the calendar & a GHS prize pack!

6) The contest runs all of April!

Contest Opens: Thurs. Apr. 2, 9am. Register online.

NEWS RELEASE – The Guelph Humane Society receives food donation from ROYAL CANIN® for the 105 cats

GUELPH, ON (February 20, 2020) – The Guelph Humane Society is grateful for a special donation from ROYAL CANIN® of adult wet and dry food including special veterinary diet food for all of the male cats that are in their care. This donation will support the 105 cats that were surrendered at the end of January.

Bake for the Animals – Wingrove Veterinary

Wingrove Veterinary is hosting a bake sale in support of Bake for the Animals! The bake sale will be on Wed. Feb. 12th, 9am -7 pm & Thurs. Feb. 9am – 5pm. Come by and enjoy delicious treats while supporting the GHS! Vegan and gluten free options will also be available.

NEWS RELEASE – The Guelph Humane Society places the first round of the 105 surrendered cats up for adoption

GUELPH, ON (February 7, 2019) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is excited to announce that the first round of cats from the 105 that were surrendered two weeks ago are now ready for adoption. GHS has been monitoring the cats since they were all brought into their care, and a few healthy cats have shown great progress adjusting to their new surroundings. This is the first of many rounds of these cats that will be ready for their new loving homes.

Virtual – 2020 National Animal Welfare Conference (May 20 – May 21)

About the Event

Humane Canada’s National Animal Welfare Conference (NAWC) is an annual professional development and community-building event for anyone who works with, cares for or advocates for animals. It is Canada’s  biggest and best-attended animal welfare conference.

In order to comply with national and provincial health regulations, Humane Canada cancelled the in-person seventh annual National Animal Welfare Conference, which was set to take place in Victoria, BC March 28 – 31.

We didn’t want to miss the opportunity to provide you with a fantastic conference program, and the good news is that we are going to host NAWC online this spring!

Registration will be FREE for anyone who had purchased a registration pass for the conference in Victoria. We will also have a paid registration option for anyone who is interested in participating in our online conference. The online National Animal Welfare Conference welcomes:

  • SPCA, Humane Societies and Shelter/Rescue employees
  • Students in any discipline,
  • Veterinarians and vet techs,
  • Academics,
  • Researchers and scientists,
  • Animal enforcement personnel,
  • Animal care professionals who work with companion animals, farm animals or wildlife, and.
  • People who advocate for animals or those who have an interest in animal welfare.

Guelph Humane Society Holiday Open House

Saturday December 7th from 11am – 2pm is the annual Holiday Open House at the Guelph Humane Society!

This is a great opportunity  to visit us, learn more about the services & care we provide and interact with some of our featured activities. Activities include things such as a scavenger hunt, learn about our new upcoming building, help make dog toys, and so much more.

This is an all ages event – bring the family and get ready for some festive fun!

Fall Microchip Clinic

The Guelph Humane Society is holding a Microchip Clinic on October 19th, 2019!

Cost: $35* (cash, debit, credit accepted)

*Please note registration page says “Free” however the $35 is to be paid at the time of your appointment.

You can book multiple appointments to have your pets microchipped!

Each animal should have a person with them.

All dogs must be on a leash, all cats must be in a carrier.

Party in the Park is happening again this year at Rockmosa Park!

This is a FREE event – for admission and all activities!

WHEN:

Thursday August 1, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Activities will end at 9:30 p.m., just in time for fireworks!

    For a $5 donation per person towards Children’s Miracle Network you can take a ride in a Hot Air Balloon!

  • Fireworks – starting at 9:30 p.m.

The Guelph Humane Society continues their investigations until a new provincial system is developed

Guelph, ON [June 28, 2019] – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) will continue to protect animals at risk over the next six months while the Ontario Government develops a new animal protection act. GHS is proud to continue their vital provincial animal protection work within the Guelph and Wellington County area (now including the Town of Erin).
