Construction continues at our new home!

We are happy to announce that we are making great progress with construction at our new building!
Devlan Construction has been busy working on the steel roofing, window installations, and preparing the HVAC system, while ensuring all additional safety precautions and guidelines are in place.
Despite the six-week pause on construction due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are now looking forward to completing the new building in early 2021.
Thanks to a transformational gift of $5 Million, generously given by Kim and Stu Lang, we broke ground in September 2019. The new building, to be located at 190 Hanlon Creek Blvd on the south end of Guelph, is a long-awaited project for the Guelph Humane Society, which will have a huge impact on the lives of vulnerable animals in Guelph and Wellington County.
Fundraising is well underway, but we can’t do it without you!

Make a lasting gift to the animals through our Naming Opportunities.
Permanently naming a section or item inside the shelter is a beautiful way to help homeless animals. Donors can honour a pet, person, or family, or even a business or organization.
Donor wall and item naming opportunities are available starting at $1,000, and specific space and room naming opportunities are available starting at $25,000. Click here for more information.
Please consider making a lasting gift to the animals. The funds received through naming opportunities are vital for helping us save animal lives and care for them until they find a loving, new home.

It’s Time to EVOLVE
The Guelph Humane Society has operated out of the same location at 500 Wellington St W for more than 50 years. The building has begun to show its age, with the need for a new home becoming increasingly apparent.
Current animal shelter standards, together with our community’s increasing animal population, have caused us to outgrow the physical capacities of our aging facility. In recent years, we’ve had to use satellite locations and a network of foster care to continue to provide optimal environments for our animals.
A Renewed Vision For The Future
We are building a new facility that will provide compassionate care to animals, offer an innovative design, and have plenty of room for important education and outreach activities.
Despite the current condition of our building, we are still a safe place for stray and abused animals. We are confident we will create a more uplifting and invigorating space for our animals, staff and volunteers.
Our Future Home will:
- Be spacious and welcoming
- Have plenty of natural light and eco-friendly atmosphere
- Give visitors more space to interact with the animals in our care
- Include dedicated space for medical exams, training, grooming, intake of surrendered pets and injured wildlife, and education programs
- Provide lots of fresh air, with separate HVAC systems
- Have ample storage for food, bedding, toys, cleaning supplies
