We’re short of our $10 million dollar goal – without you, we cannot complete this campaign!
Left to go: $1 million
Did you know you can make a lasting gift to the animals through our Naming Opportunities?
Honour a pet, person, or family member by permanently naming a section of the shelter. It is a beautiful way to help animals in our community. Opportunities start at $1,000. Gifts can be made over multiple years and are cumulative, so previous gifts to the building count too!

We’ve moved into our new home…but still need your help!
“A beacon to animal care and animal welfare across Canada.” That’s just one way our new building has been described. Other words being used to describe our building at 190 Hanlon Creek Blvd are: transformational, bright, and hope.
We broke ground in September 2019, thanks to a generous $5 million gift from Kim and Stu Lang. We moved into the facility on March 5, 2021. Construction is not 100% complete, and we are still short of our $10 million goal.
Our new building at 190 Hanlon Creek Blvd isn’t just an animal shelter – it’s a community animal centre. It is a bright, spacious, and comfortable space for vulnerable animals in Guelph and Wellington County. But it will also be a place for camps and birthday parties, for animal educational activities and other community-oriented events.
This project is an investment in our community, and we’re looking to our community to invest with us. Join the thousands of excited community members who are supporting the building of a new home for vulnerable animals in Guelph and Wellington County, and donate generously today!
A Renewed Vision For The Future
The Guelph Humane Society has operated out of the same location for more than 50 years. We are building a new facility where animals will get the same compassionate care they always have but will have improved spaces to minimize their stress.
Our new home will create a more uplifting and invigorating space for our animals, staff and volunteers.
Our future home will:
- Be spacious and welcoming
- Have more opportunities for animal enrichment
- Dogs will have indoor-outdoor access
- More spacious and calming cat enclosures
- Dedicated small animal room
- Have plenty of natural light and eco-friendly atmosphere
- Give visitors more space to interact with the animals in our care
- Include dedicated space for medical exams, training, grooming, intake of surrendered pets and injured wildlife, and education programs
- Provide lots of fresh air, with separate HVAC systems
