Animal Protection Officer - Full-Time & Part-Time background

Animal Protection Officer - Full-Time & Part-Time

Under the direction of the Manager, Animal Protection Services, the Animal Protection Officer (APO) is responsible for responding to requests for animal services; enforcing the City of Guelph, Township of Centre-Wellington, and Township of Guelph-Eramosa’s animal related by-laws and resolving matters through education and enforcement. The APO must provide detailed reports of activities, strictly adhering to the Guelph Humane Society’s policies and procedures. The APO must represent the GHS in a professional manner at all times, fostering good community relations. The successful candidate will provide exceptional customer service, excellent communication, and will demonstrate a positive attitude at all times, while supporting the overall mission and values of the GHS.

Animal Care Coordinator (Full-time) background

Animal Care Coordinator (Full-time)

Under the direction of the Animal Care Manager, the Animal Care Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of day-to-day tasks – both hands-on and administrative – related to the overall care, health, and welfare, including general care and cleaning, preventive and medical care, daily monitoring (physical health and mental well being), treatment, and infection control in animal care areas – for all animals under GHS care (including canine, feline, small animal area, and wildlife). In addition, the Animal Care Coordinator will assist in coaching staff, training new hires/volunteers/coop students, coordinating scheduling and ensuring foster animals receive necessary medical care. Responsibilities also include providing exceptional customer service, excellent communication and organization skills, and demonstrating a positive attitude at all times, while supporting the overall mission and values of the GHS.

Animal Care Attendant (Canine) background

Animal Care Attendant (Canine)

Under the direction of the Animal Care Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of day-to-day tasks related to the general/medical care, humane handling, sanitation, and monitoring of predominately dogs (occasional assistance in feline, small animal, and wildlife areas may be required). In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting with the lost and found program, greeting clients, providing exceptional customer service, having excellent communication and organizational skills, and demonstrating a positive attitude at all times.
