Can my child attend camp even though they are younger than grade 1?

Unfortunately, we are unable to welcome children you are younger than grade 1 to our camps. Thank you for your understanding.

Where can I find more information on Birthday Parties?

For more information on our Birthday Parties, please see our Birthday Party page on our website.

We have an extensive FAQ section specifically for Birthday Parties on that page!

I am a school teacher, does the Guelph Humane Society offer programming for students?

We are currently offering virtual presentations for classes and school groups. Please note we receive many inquires about our virtual school presentations and, although we would like to accommodate all of the requests, our availability is limited.

Please email programs@guelphhumane.ca to see if we can arrange a program!

How far in advance should I contact the Guelph Humane Society about booking a program?

Our programs are facilitated through a small department; therefore, we are not always able to fulfill our community’s requests for programming. If you would like to book a program with the Guelph Humane Society, please give us as much notice as possible!

Our school programs are typically fully booked for the school year by mid October.

Our birthday party programs are typically fully booked two to three months in advanced.

Our community visit programs are booked three to six months in advanced.

Do you need volunteers for the Education Programs?

Yes! We are always looking for Youth Leaders who can commit to regularly coming to help with our education programs in the evenings, on the weekends, on PA days and over March and Summer break!

Please note that we are not currently recruiting Youth Leaders. Thank you for your understanding.

The camp I want to get my child in is full, is there a waiting list?

Absolutely! If any of our programs or camps are full and you wish to register, please email programs@guelphhumane.ca to join our wait list! Please be aware that our programs are extremely popular and we do not frequently have movement on our wait list.

What am I required to bring for my child for camp? PA day? Birthday parties?

For our camp, all campers are required to bring:

  • Indoor AND Outdoor shoes
  • Coat (and any other outdoor clothing for the weather)
  • Full water bottle
  • A full lunch and two snacks
  • Sunscreen (non-spray only)
  • An extra pair of socks
  • Hand sanitizer, if possible

For a Birthday Party, your child is not required to bring anything extra in comparison to any other birthday party! Please come prepared to have fun and learn about animals!

Why does it cost extra for before and after care at camps?

We charge and additional fee of $10 per child, per session for our before and after care programs. As a non-profit, we rely on monetary donations and since before and after care lies outside of our camp hours, we ask for a small fee to partially cover staffing and programming costs. Thank you for your understanding.

Why are birthday parties booked so far in advanced?

We have had a positive and overwhelming response to booking our birthday party programs! As we are limited to the number of dates that we can book a birthday party every month, our parties book up quickly, up to two to three months in advanced.
