The Guelph Community Foundation’s generous grant of $9,220 will support a new collaboration of key community partners in social services and veterinary care.

November 8, 2018 (Guelph, ON) – Guelph Humane Society recently received a $9,220 grant from Guelph Community Foundation in support of the new Pets In Transition program. The Guelph Community Foundation is a charitable public foundation whose purpose is to provide leadership in community philanthropy and enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Guelph and surrounding areas.

GUELPH, ON (October 5, 2018) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is seeking information about a stray injured puppy that was found by members of the public the evening of Monday, October 1^st. These individuals then brought the puppy to GHS. The Great Dane mix, who is estimated to be four (4) months old, was found wandering outside 411 Waterloo Avenue in Guelph.

Guelph, ON (August 23, 2018) – The Guelph Humane Society wanted to share an update to the public who has shown much compassion towards a found dog near Exhibition Park.

At the beginning of August, this sweet Shih Tzu, now lovingly named ‘Royal’, came to us in deplorable condition. When Royal arrived, she was dehydrated and underweight. This gentle senior was suffering from an untreated eye condition, as well as a skin condition which resulted in severe hair loss.

We started treatment immediately. Blood-work revealed that Royal had untreated hypothyroidism, which was causing her hair loss. Royal is already making progress, her eyes are clearer, and skin is slowly improving. Thank you to our generous donors who made this possible!

Royal is now in a foster home with Shelley McCrae, our Canine Care Manager, and is getting the ‘Royal Treatment’. However, she has a long road before she will be well enough to be available for adoption.

August 9, 2018 – Guelph – Community Veterinary Outreach, the Guelph Humane Society and Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis have partnered up on a new program, “Pets in Transition,” which provides temporary emergency foster homes and care for the pets of women leaving domestic violence.

GUELPH, ON (August 7, 2018) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is seeking information from the public after a stray dog was found by a member of the public on Sunday, August 5 in the afternoon. The Shih Tzu mix, was found in deplorable condition, wandering on the Royal Recreation Trail, west of Exhibition Park in Guelph, was secured by a GHS Animal Protection Officer (APO).

Guelph, ON (June 19, 2018) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) would like to remind motorists to “give turtles a break” this time of year.  Turtles are in the midst of their egg-laying season, which will continue until early July. Females often will lay their eggs in the sandy, gravel shoulders along our roads, and while crossing the roadways they are at significant risk of injuries or death due to collisions with vehicles.

ELORA, ON (June 1, 2018) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) was called by a community member about an ill and disorientated skunk in their neighbourhood. GHS immediately responded to the call to secure the skunk, which later tested positive for the rabies virus.
