GUELPH, ON (August 7, 2018) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is seeking information from the public after a stray dog was found by a member of the public on Sunday, August 5 in the afternoon. The Shih Tzu mix, was found in deplorable condition, wandering on the Royal Recreation Trail, west of Exhibition Park in Guelph, was secured by a GHS Animal Protection Officer (APO).

The senior dog was immediately transported by the APO to the veterinarian for examination, which revealed the dog was dehydrated, extremely underweight, suffering from severe hair loss, as well as had untreated eye and skin conditions. The nervous male dog is now being monitored closely at the shelter, while receiving much-needed care.

“We are asking for the public’s assistance to help find the owner of this dog,” says Megan Swan, Ontario SPCA Agent. “We want to understand more about his medical condition and how he came to be wandering on this trail in Guelph.”
