Guelph Humane Society receives a CFHS Animal Welfare Leadership & Innovation Award

GUELPH, ON (April 12, 2018) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) will be receiving an award from the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS) for its work with wildlife in our community. The award, for Leadership and Innovation in Wildlife Programming, will aptly be presented to the GHS on Earth Day – April 22nd – at the National Animal Welfare Conference hosted in Calgary, AB.

Guelph Humane Society hosts Microchip Clinic in Elora to help lost pets return home quickly and safely

GUELPH, ON (April 6, 2018) – Losing a pet can be a stressful situation, and when pets don’t have any identification it can be even more worrisome. The Guelph Humane Society is hosting a Microchip Clinic for pet owners on Saturday April 28th, 2018 at Dreamland Pet, located at 6484 Wellington Rd. 7 in Elora.

Guelph Humane Society seeks information about the owner of a dog found in appalling condition

GUELPH, ON (April 4, 2018) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is seeking information from the public
after a stray dog was found and brought to GHS is deplorable condition. The Rottweiler mix, found
wandering near Wellington St. and Gordon St. in Guelph, was secured by a concerned passerby, and
brought to the Guelph Humane Society for care.

Lost Cat Reunited with Relieved Owner Thanks to City of Guelph Initiative

On February 27th  “Little Cat”, a licensed cat living in the City of Guelph, was reported lost by his owner Michelle on DocuPet’s Lost Pet System. The next day, news came through that Little Cat was found! While tired and hungry from his adventure, he was otherwise healthy and happy to be home.

Wildlife rescue part of the job for Guelph Humane Society

Guelph Tribune (January 5th, 2018)

The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) was featured in an article from the Guelph Tribune, highlighting the work the GHS does for local wildlife. The beaver shown in this photo was found to be hypothermic and had injuries to his tail, likely from a coyote, when it was picked up by a GHS Animal Protection Officer. He was transferred to a local wildlife rehabilitation centre, but was later humanely euthanized.

The Guelph Humane Society needs the community’s help to provide surgical care for dog rescued in Elora Gorge

GUELPH, ON (December 27, 2017) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is asking the community for donations to help cover the cost of veterinary care for a dog who fell almost 25 metres down into the Elora Gorge. ‘George’, as he has been named, was discovered by hikers late on Saturday afternoon after he fell down into Gorge and miraculously, survived.

Guelph Humane Society seeks information about two gerbils found thrown out in a dumpster

GUELPH, ON (December 6, 2017) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is seeking information from the public after two gerbils were discovered in a temporary dumpster at 186 Fife Road in Guelph on Monday, November 27th, and brought to the shelter on Friday, December 1st.

Guelph Humane Society seeks owner of three stray dogs found in deplorable condition in Wellington County

GUELPH, ON (November 14, 2017) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is seeking information from the public after three small poodle-mix dogs were found wandering near 7 Line and Side Rd. 25 in Centre Wellington, during the evening of Monday, November 6th. A GHS Animal Protection Officer discovered all three dogs were suffering from severely matted fur. The dogs were immediately transported to veterinary hospital for treatment. (more…)
