Guelph Humane Society hosts their first Microchip Clinic of the year May 4

GUELPH, ON (April 23, 2019) – Losing a pet can be a stressful situation and when pets don’t have any identification it can be even more worrisome.  The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is hosting their first Microchip Clinic of the year on Saturday, May 4th, 2019 at Wayne Pitman Ford Lincoln Inc., located in the Guelph Auto Mall at 895 Woodlawn Road West, Guelph, ON.  Microchips provide a safe and effective way to help lost pets return home quickly and safely.

The Guelph Humane Society will continue protecting animals during a transition period until June 28

April 5, 2019 (GUELPH, ON) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is happy to continue providing protection to animals in Guelph and Wellington County. This is thanks to an agreement between the Ontario SPCA (OSPCA) and the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services that was announced on April 1st. This transitional period will ensure that GHS is able to continue enforcing the Ontario SPCA Act at least until June 28, 2019.

Guelph Humane Society seeks to protect animals beyond April 1

Guelph, ON (March 14, 2019) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) wants to ensure animals in Guelph and Wellington County continue to be protected, following an unexpected decision from the Ontario SPCA last week to end its work in investigating and enforcing animal cruelty laws. The move will remove authority from OSPCA agents as soon as April 1, 2019, unless the provincial government accepts a three-month transition period offered by the OSPCA.

Guelph Humane Society receives over $61,000 grant from PetSmart Charities® of Canada to support spay and neuter efforts of owned pets in Guelph region

GUELPH, ON – February 13, 2018 – The GUELPH HUMANE SOCIETY (GHS) today announced it has received a new $61,562 grant from PetSmart Charities of Canada, one of Canada’s leading funders of animal welfare, to help bring low-cost spay and neuter efforts in the City of Guelph, Guelph-Eramosa, and Centre Wellington.

February is the sweetest month for the Guelph Humane Society!

GUELPH, ON (February 5, 2019) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is celebrating a very delicious month filled with cupcakes and baked goods! February is Cupcake Month and GHS is encouraging you to get involved and help raise money for the most vulnerable animals in our community by hosting your very own Cupcake ‘Pawty’ or bake sale in support of GHS.

GHS is excited to be hosting their very own family friendly Cupcake PAW-ty and Bake sale on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Guelph Humane Society.  It’s going to be a big party with cupcakes and baked goods for sale, a dog trainer (JV Training) showcasing a training demonstration, face painting to transform guests, cupcake decorating, balloon animals, friendly animals and more! Bring your family to 500 Wellington Street West between 11:00am and 3:00pm to get in on the fun.

GHS advises that pets need to be kept indoors during cold temperatures

NEWS RELEASE

Guelph, ON (January 18, 2019) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is once again reminding the community of the extreme danger of leaving your pet outside in severely cold temperatures. GHS advises that pet owners should be aware of the deadly risks to their pets during cold weather and ensure that they are protecting them.

GHS thanks donors and provides an update on four dogs whose lives were saved in 2018

GUELPH, ON (January 15, 2019) – Guelph Humane Society (GHS) would like to thank its generous supporters, who make saving the community’s most vulnerable animals possible. Last year, GHS appealed to the public for assistance regarding several dogs, who were in desperate need of help. The response we received was amazing and now GHS is excited to provide an update to the community.

Guelph Humane Society is seeking information about a dog found at York/Watson Road area

[NEWS RELEASE]

GUELPH, ON (November 30, 2018) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is seeking information about a dog found wandering in the York and Watson Road area of Guelph. The dog was found by a Good Samaritan at approximately 10:30pm at night on Friday, November 23, and brought to the Guelph Humane Society early on Saturday morning. The dog was immediately brought to a veterinarian for medical care.

Great Dane cross puppy is on the road to recovery!

GUELPH, ON (November 20, 2018) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is pleased to report that Bentley, the Great Dane cross puppy, had a successful surgery.  Bentley was found as a stray wondering on Waterloo Ave. in Guelph On October 1st. He came to GHS suffering from an old, untreated injury, which required extensive surgery. No owner came forward to claim Bentley, so he was named by the staff, and he remains in the care of GHS at this time.
