NEWS RELEASE – The Guelph Humane Society has a final count of 105 cats surrendered into their care last week from one home

GUELPH, ON (January 27, 2020) – Last week, the Guelph Humane Society (GHS) stepped up and saved the lives of a total of 105 cats when the owner surrendered them into GHS’s care. The cats were all removed from one home with the majority of the cats rescued on Wednesday, January 22 and final cats arriving on Friday end of day. It was all-hands-on-deck at the humane society to ensure ALL of the cats’ were rescued and received immediate care.

NEWS BULLETIN – 97 Cats Surrendered to the Guelph Humane Society

GUELPH, ON (January 24, 2020) – The Guelph Humane Society was notified of an owner surrendering 97 cats, all from one home this past week.

GHS stepped up and made the decision to help these cats by taking them into their care. GHS have assessed the cats’ basic medical needs. They have provided basic medical care of vaccines, microchipping and parasite control. They will have a better idea of the costs for additional and specialized care next week. Surprisingly, most of the cats appear to be in fair condition, considering the of number of cats that were living together. However, several cats have eye issues and others with additional medical conditions are being monitored closely by our team.

NEWS RELEASE – The Guelph Humane Society saves cat from 10-foot-deep window well during Saturday’s snowstorm

GUELPH, ON (January 21, 2020) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) rescued an 8-month old cat from a downtown Guelph apartment window well during Saturday’s snowfall. The cat appeared to have fallen or jumped into the window well before the heavy snowfall, as no footprints could be seen in area.

NEWS RELEASE – The Guelph Humane Society saves cat after it swam across the cold Speed River

GUELPH, ON (December 16, 2019) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) saved a cat’s life after it swam across the Speed River on Monday, December 9, 2019. It took three animal protection officers and the two finders of the cat an hour to secure this cold, wet, and scared cat.

Guelph Humane Society Happily Ever After Gala Raises $267,800

GUELPH, ON (October 8, 2019) – Losing a pet can be a stressful situation and when pets don’t have any identification it can be even more worrisome.  The Guelph Humane Society is hosting their second Microchip Clinic of the year on Saturday, October 19th, 2019 from 9am to 3pm at Wayne Pitman Ford Lincoln Inc., located in the Guelph Auto Mall at 895 Woodlawn Road West, Guelph, ON.  Microchips provide a safe and effective way to help lost pets return home quickly and safely.

Guelph Humane Society is expanding its Pets in Transition Program thanks to a PetSmart Charities® of Canada Grant and Partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington

The expansion of this program has been made possible thanks to a $9,965 grant from PetSmart Charities® of Canada, and the collaboration of key community partners in social services and veterinary care.

GUELPH, ON (September 26, 2019) – The Guelph Humane Society has received a $9,965 grant from PetSmart Charities of Canada, one of the nation’s leading funders of animal welfare and the human animal bond, to help expand its Pets In Transition program for individuals who are hospitalized for mental health.

Guelph Humane Society digs for new digs

 GUELPH, ON (September 17, 2019) – Staff, volunteers, donors, community members – and a couple of very good dogs – joined in the festivities today during the ceremonial groundbreaking event at the site of the Guelph Humane Society’s new home, 190 Hanlon Creek Blvd in Guelph. Construction for the new building is expected to be completed by Fall 2020.
