It is with a heavy heart that I share some sad news about Archie, the beloved kitten that our entire community rallied behind when he came into GHS’s care just before Thanksgiving Weekend.

While Archie’s prognosis was initially promising, he passed away earlier this week.

Archie was so special to us, and to all of you, and the support of our community allowed us to provide vital veterinary care to address the serious injuries he suffered after being hit by a car. Archie initially recovered well following surgery to repair his fractured jaw. He subsequently suffered a ruptured bladder that developed the following week and we provided a second emergency surgery to repair it.

We are heartbroken that despite our dedicated efforts, Archie developed complications that he was unable to fight through.

We understand the deep connection that you, as a supporter of GHS, had with Archie.  We want to express our deepest condolences for this loss. He touched the lives of many with his story of perseverance and resilience.

I’d like to thank everyone for the support you gave to Archie through emails, social media, and donations. We are truly humbled to have received this outpouring from our community. Your support gave Archie a fighting chance, and allowed us to provide essential medical care, love, and attention, which made his journey more comfortable and peaceful.

Our team is deeply saddened by this loss. While this is not the outcome we hoped for our little Archie, nor the news we wanted to share, please know that you gave Archie the chance he would never have had elsewhere. Please be assured that your support gives other animals like Archie, who also deserve a second chance, an opportunity to recover and find their Happy Tail.

GHS provides hope, care, and compassion for the animals in our community that need help, and thanks to donors like you, we can continue to do that in Archie’s memory.

If you have any questions or would like to hear more about Archie’s journey, please feel free to reach out. We are here to provide support and offer any additional information that you need.

Sincerely,
Lisa Veit
