GUELPH, ON (August 9, 2024) — The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is thrilled to announce the return of its signature event, the Happy Tails Gala, on Saturday, November 2, 2024. This year’s theme, “There’s No Place Like Home,” promises an enchanting evening for all attendees.

Lisa Veit, GHS Executive Director at the GHS 2023 Happy Tails Gala.

“Our Happy Tails Gala is a cornerstone of our fundraising efforts,” says Lisa Veit, GHS’s executive director. “The support we receive from this event is essential in providing care and finding loving homes for the animals in our community.”

Presented by Speedy Auto Service Guelph, the gala aims to draw 300 animal lovers and supporters to this year’s event which will be held at the Delta Hotels Guelph Conference Centre. Guests will embark on a whimsical journey, following Toto down the yellow brick road. The evening will feature lively music, familiar characters, performers, and some of the animals currently in GHS’s care, all inspired by the wonderful land of Oz.

“This year’s theme, ‘There’s No Place Like Home,’ reflects our mission to create a safe and loving environment for every animal,” Veit explains. “It will be a magical night where our community can come together to make a real difference for animals in need.”

The funds raised will also support primary and complex veterinary care for animals in need, GHS’s nationally recognized wildlife program, initiatives to rehome lost or abandoned farm animals and. the GHS Cares Program, which aims to keep pets and people together. This includes emergency short- and long-term sheltering for pets belonging to vulnerable community members, no-cost boarding for pets of women fleeing domestic violence.

“We rely heavily on the generosity of our supporters,” Veit adds. “Every ticket sold and every donation made at the gala directly impacts the lives of our community’s most vulnerable animals.”

The evening will feature a delectable three-course dinner, online and in-person silent auctions, a spectacular live auction with unique experiences and getaways, interactive games, and opportunities to meet some of GHS’s animals looking for their new homes and happy tails.

Tickets for this formal or costume dress event are $150 per person or $1,500 for a table of ten.
