2022 GHS Calendar Contest OPEN NOW!

THE 2022 GHS CALENDAR  CONTEST IS NOW OPEN!

The calendar contest is an exciting way to celebrate your amazing pet while fundraising for the most vulnerable animals in our community.

Here’s how to get started:

1) Take a clear photo of your pet. Check out our photo taking tips HERE.

2) Write a fun, short bio sharing what your pet means to you and your family.

3) Go to 2022 GHS Calendar Contest website and register your pet. There is a $20 registration fee, which will kick-start your voting with 20 votes ($1 = 1 vote). All funds raised in the calendar contest will go towards the highest priority needs at GHS. Before entering you pet make sure you read the contest rules HERE.

4) Share your contest page with friends and family through your social media channels! Donations made in support of an animal are valued at one vote for every $1.00 donated. Those who donate $20.00 or more will receive a tax-receipt.

5) The Top 12 pets with the highest number of votes will win a spot in our 2022 calendar. The pet with the most votes will win the front cover image of the calendar & a GHS prize pack!

6) The contest runs all of May!

Contest Opens: Sat. May 1, 9am. Register online.
Contest Closes: Mon. May 31, 8pm

Winning photos will be taken Saturday, June 12th by Laura Wombwell Photography. A backup date for the photoshoot will be Saturday July 10. (due to COVID-19, this date may be subject to change).

NEWS RELEASE: Guelph Humane Society recommends patience and tolerance when dealing with nesting geese

GUELPH, ON (April 19, 2021) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is encouraging residents to be mindful of nesting geese over the next three to four weeks. Geese can be very aggressive when protecting their eggs, even more so than when they are protecting their babies.

“Geese incubate their eggs for about 25 days,” says Lisa Veit, Associate Director of GHS. “Once the eggs hatch, the parents and goslings leave the nest and seek out a body of water.”

NEWS RELEASE – Guelph Humane Society set to move into new south end Guelph facility

GUELPH, ON (February 25, 2021) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is excited to announce a move-in date for their new facility at 190 Hanlon Creek Blvd. GHS will officially be moving into their new home on the weekend of March 5-7.

Construction is not entirely completed on the new building, as there are projects that are still in progress on the inside, as well as outdoor work, such as landscaping, that will have to wait until later in the spring. However the building is safe and ready to move into, and there are many benefits to moving in as soon as possible.

Cupcake Pickup Day!

If you purchased cupcake decorating kits from Wellington Cakes as part of our “Decorate to Donate” event, today is the day to pickup your orders!

Cupcake decorating kits can be picked up at Wellington Cakes (9 Douglas Street, Guelph) between 11am and 2pm.

Don’t forget to take photos of your creations and tag GHS on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter! We would love to share your pics!

Decorate to Donate

The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) has teamed up with Wellington Cakes for “Decorate to Donate” – a physically distant way of celebrating cupcake day, while still raising money for the animals at GHS.

You can purchase your own cupcake decorating kit from Wellington Cakes, which includes 4 cupcakes (2 vanilla, 2 chocolate) plus the icing and sprinkles to decorate them yourself! One kit is $25, and with each kit purchased $7 will come back to GHS. Pretty sweet, right?

Place your kit order by February 15th! Curbside pickup for the kits will take place at Wellington Cakes on Sunday, Feb. 21st between 11am and 2pm. Call Wellington Cupcakes directly to place your order: 519-836-5088 or email anne@wellingtoncakes.ca.
