Cleo's Story

Cleo’s Story:

You may have heard the story about Cleo, a tiny chihuahua who arrived at the Guelph Humane Society (GHS) after being found in an outhouse at a local conservation area.

Cleo was abandoned and found starving and covered in human waste after being trapped in an in-ground holding tank of an outhouse for days. We are grateful to the kind community members who contacted us to rescue her.

Our team was completely shocked by Cleo’s story.  The cruelty that led to Cleo ending up in this circumstance may never be known.

It would have broken your heart to see her in the condition in which she arrived. She had likely been neglected for some time. She was in discomfort from her overgrown nails and severely underweight. She had likely not eaten for days.

To make matters worse, Cleo was also suffering from severe dental disease and will need surgery to remove her teeth.

Cleo needs your help now more than ever.

Despite her suffering, Cleo has the sweetest little personality, and has won the hearts of our team with her soulful eyes and love for sitting outside in the sunshine.

Today, your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar, thanks to a generous match of up to $3,000* from donor Roger Matz.

That means your gift will have double the impact to fund Cleo’s essential medical care and help other animals like her.

Cleo is depending on your kindness and compassion. Please give generously and help provide Cleo with the dream of a safe place to live with a family who loves her.

Donate TODAY to double your gift AND increase our chances of winning the $10,000 Canada Helps Great Canadian Giving Challenge grand prize!** Each dollar you donate in June through Canada Helps equals one ballot to win!
