Thanks to the support of our community, combined with a $15,000 matching gift from title sponsor Wellington Laboratories and the generosity of event sponsors, this year’s walk raised more than $64,000 —funds that will go a long way in providing hope, care and compassion for Guelph and Wellington County’s most vulnerable animals.

GHS hosted 284 walkers, including 29 teams and more than 80 dogs this past Sunday who walked a 1km or 5km loop on the trails that surround the Hanlon Creek Business Park, bringing awareness to animal welfare and celebrating the meaning of animals in our lives.

“We were thrilled to see such an incredible turnout for this year’s walk,” said Lisa Veit, Executive Director of GHS. “The outpouring of support from our community is truly inspiring. A heartfelt thank you to Wellington Laboratories, as well as to every participant, sponsor, volunteer, and supporter who helped make this walk such a tremendous success. Together, we are making a lasting difference for animals in our community.”

Funds raised will support GHS in the delivery of essential, and often critical, care each day for animals in need in our community.

This all-ages, family friendly event featured the Team Zone sponsored by Mark Wilson’s Better Used Cars, the Speedy Woof Zone, sponsored by Speedy Auto Service Guelph, a complimentary hot breakfast provided by Platters Catering and Events and coffee from Centurion Coffee.

Donations to support the event can still be made on the GHS website

“The work we do is entirely fueled by the kindness and generosity of our community,” Veit adds. “It is through this collective support that we are able to change lives for the better for 1000s of animals each year.”
