GUELPH, ON (June 15, 2021) – The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is hoping Ontarians will give vulnerable animals in Guelph and Wellington County a second chance at life – by taking a chance on the GHS 50/50 Summer Lottery. Tickets for your chance to win half of the jackpot go on sale today, and can be purchased up until noon on July 15th.

“We were very pleased with how well our first online 50/50 lottery went back in April,” says Jen Fraser, Donor Relations Manager at GHS. “Thanks to overwhelming community support, the lottery raised over $85,000, and our grand prize winner received a cheque for over $43,000!”

GHS 50/50 Spring Lottery winner, Jennifer Garner, received a cheque for over $43,000.

Like the previous lottery this spring, this summer lottery has a guaranteed minimum grand prize of $5,000. However, this time GHS will be giving away not one, but two $500 early bird prizes.

“It’s just a way to sweeten the pot a bit,” adds Fraser. “If you buy your 50/50 lottery tickets by next Monday, you’ll actually have three chances to win money – either one of the $500 early bird prizes, or the grand prize on July 15th.”

All tickets purchased on June 15th through 11:59pm on Monday, June 21st will be automatically entered to win the first $500 draw prize, and tickets purchased through 11:59pm on Monday, July 5th will be automatically entered to win the second $500 draw prize.

“These tickets would make great last minute Father’s Day gifts, especially for the animal lovers in your life,” Fraser says. “Not only does every ticket sold support the animals in our care, but you’re giving dad three chances at winning a monetary prize.”

Check out this clip with the previous early bird winner, Laura, and how she felt winning $500.

While the spring 50/50 lottery was in support of the Guelph Humane Society’s new building at 190 Hanlon Creek Blvd., the proceeds from this summer 50/50 lottery will go towards what’s known as the “Highest Priority Needs” fund – allowing the money to help wherever it is needed most. Considering this is a busy time of year, between kitten season and wildlife season, the money will be able to help hundreds of animals currently in need of care.

Tickets for the GHS 50/50 Summer Lottery (Lottery License RAF1206891) can be purchased at www.GHSLotto.ca, and there are three pricing options: 10 tickets for $10, 40 tickets for $20, and 120 tickets for $40.
