Guelph, ON (September 11, 2019) – When the Guelph Humane Society breaks ground on its new location next week, it will be with local builders Devlan Construction Ltd at the helm.
The company has been contracted to build the new 18,000 square foot community animal centre on 2.7 acres of land, after a Request for Proposals (RFP) process earlier this year. The new facility will be located at 190 Hanlon Creek Blvd., Guelph.
“We are thrilled to be working with a local company on this project that is so important to the Guelph community,” says Adrienne McBride, Executive Director. “The new building will offer a more comfortable and home-like space for animals in our care. It will also provide plenty of room for important education and outreach activities that will benefit animals and families in Guelph and the surrounding community.”
The new building will replace the outdated animal shelter located at 500 Wellington Road in Guelph, where the Guelph Humane Society has been headquartered for 50 years.
Construction on the new building begins September 2019 and is expected to continue until Fall 2020. GHS will be celebrating the project with a ceremonial groundbreaking event with key supporters, volunteers, and staff next week.
