Update: A message from our Executive Director
Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
I’m thrilled to share this with you: our parvo puppies are finally out of the critical stage and it’s all thanks to you.
Last weekend, when the puppies arrived at GHS, they were highly contagious, lethargic and infected with fatal parvovirus. Sadly, four puppies succumbed to the virus before they reached our doors. For the seven still fighting for their lives, we knew we needed to do everything in our power to save them.
We reached out to our community for urgent help, and you answered the call.
Because of your support, four pups are now safe in foster care, recovering under strict protocols. The other three remain in the hospital, under the close supervision of our veterinary partners, with every hope for a full recovery.
Thanks to you, these pups now have a fighting chance – a chance they never would have had without your generosity.
We hope this short video reminds you just how powerful your support truly is.
With heartfelt thanks,
Lisa

Urgent: 11 Puppies. 4 Taken Too Soon. 7 Still Fighting
Monday, October 6, 2025. Eleven tiny puppies were brought to the Guelph Humane Society, weak, dehydrated, and suffering. Tragically, four had already died. The remaining seven are barely hanging on, battling exposure to the deadly Parvovirus.
They need live-saving care. Timing is critical.
Parvo strikes fast and without mercy. Within mere hours it drains young, unvaccinated puppies of every ounce of strength and survival depends on immediate, intensive care.
These seven made it through the weekend. But their fight has only just begun.
Right now, they are still in danger. They need specialized treatments, IV fluids, and constant monitoring if they are to survive the critical days and weeks ahead.
Each moment matters.
Even once the life-threatening stage for hospitalizing these puppies is over, there are still many weeks of care and isolation procedures to follow.
Your generosity today will provide the medicine, care, and comfort these puppies so desperately need to carry them through the fight of their lives.
